When was the last time you had your guttering checked?
Majority of people do not think about their gutters as they generally cannot see if they are dirty as they are out of sight and out of mind, your gutters actually play a massive role in the structural integrity of your house, keeping them clean is the best way to avoid costly expense of gutter repairs or even worse damp and rot inside your home.
Gutters have a job to dispose rainwater off your roof and away from your property. Despite their importance it can be all too easy to forget about them until something goes wrong. If your gutters become blocked or full the results can be costly not only could you end up with structural damage, the resulting damp can cause health issues for you and your family.
Whatever style of guttering you have cast iron, plastic, or pressed steel gutters or even box gutters on your conservatory they need to be cleaned at least annually depending on the environment around your property in order to keep them doing their job correctly, and to avoid the need for gutter repairs in the future.

What causes blocked gutters?
The two most common gutter related issues for homeowners are blockages in the gutter itself, and blockages in the downpipes. These blockages are often caused by debris like fallen leaves, moss, and twigs over time blocked gutters will wash the debris down the downpipe causing a bigger problem blocking the soakaway which sometimes is not accessible without specialist drain equipment. One simple way to tell if you're in need of gutter repairs is to take a step outside while it's raining - if water is running down the side of your house, it's likely that your gutters are blocked, if this has been happening for some time you may see damp staining to external walls or even rot to wooden fascia boards.
Leaking gutter joints are another common problem, leaking gutters are the most common cause of damp in homes. Leaks can occur when debris get caught in the joints, or simply from general wear and tear, over time the rubber seal flattens which will start as a small drip at first but will only get worse, the first and cheapest steps at looking at a damp problem is to have a gutter clean and a survey to inspect the condition of the gutters once they are clean.

Guttering maintenance?
It's recommended that you get your gutters cleaned at least once a year. The best time to do this is at the beginning of winter, after the autumn fall and before the wet weather sets in. This will reduce your chances of experiencing blocked guttering later on in the year. It's also a good idea to do a quick check of your gutters in spring. Make sure that any large pieces of debris that have blown in over winter. Gutters can be damaged by heavy snow-fall and high winds.
If your area has a lot of trees and debris is unavoidable, you can install a gutter guard. These act as a filter, catching leaves and preventing them from entering your gutters and downpipes while still catching the water. Although these still need to be cleaned annually, the guards won't stop all debris from entering your gutters, they will keep the larger, more dangerous pieces from causing blockages.
Water Fed Pole Cleaning – how does it work?
I have been asked this question quite often. And usually because the person has had a bad experience of a window cleaner using a water fed pole cleaning system with purified water.
Of course water fed pole window cleaning is the future of window cleaning but all those traditional window cleaners will have their own opinion and for them to change to water fed pole is very costly as most of them just work from their car have a set of ladders and a bucket of water that lasts them all day!
WFP (water fed pole) window cleaners use between 600-800 litres per day depending on the work load, as of this we carry out a deep clean everytime we clean your windows, everything linked to your windows and doors for example sills, frames and all pvc to doors, we use a high reach pump fed pole with a top quality sill brush to clean then rinse the window with hot purified water and its left to dry on its own accord.
As this cleaning method is still relatively new it’s not the majority of cleaners using it and some have tried it and gone back to traditional method, as of this there are many homeowners which may have experienced bad results for example spotting or streaky glass once dried, this is because purifying your water and making sure its within its range on the tds metre is correct, to do this regular maintenance to the water purification system has to be carried out which is costly and time consuming but without doing this there will be unhappy customers.
Once you have purified water that’s the first step to getting the finished result the next step is to actually clean correctly, depending on the state of the windows weather they haven’t been cleaned for some time or was last cleaned by a traditional window cleaner.
Generally the first clean will take twice the time to carry out but this is the most important clean as the new customer will be hoping the change will be a better job than the previous traditional window cleaner.
